What to do when your classic car needs new seat belts.

When classic cars were made, they were not considered classic. Often, through the years, these cars have been destroyed accidentally or dumped in junk yards. As a result, the rarity and luck associated with finding a classic car today can be both exhilarating and incredibly rewarding.  This is what happened with Craig Jackson, the CEO of Barrett-Jackson auction house, located a 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 EXT. The car, dubbed “Little Red” was thought to have been crushed in the 1960s.

The finding of Little Red is incredibly significant, not just for classic car enthusiasts but for anyone who appreciates history, particularly American history.  This vehicle was the actual test car that Carroll Shelby used in the production process of the GT500. The GT500 would change the very essence of what performance cars were.  Little Red was built at the San Jose Ford assembly plant. It is the sole multi-carbureted Mustang two-door vehicle produced.  There are only two GT500 notchback two-doors every created, and Little Red is one of them. The other one was auctioned for almost $2 million years ago, but did not meet the reserve price.

In the 1960s, Little Red was set to be returned and crushed at a Ford plant. No one knew what happened to this vehicle until Craig Jackson found it in a field.  Jackson plans on restoring the vehicle back to its glory.
